DEPT. PERIODONTOLOGY & ORAL IMPLANTOLOGY

INTRODUCTION

Department of periodontology deals with the diseases affecting the supporting tissues of the teeth (i.e., gingiva, periodontal ligament,bone and cementum)and theraupetic procedures of the disease.

VISION: To equip the young coeval of dental professionals with the recent developments on the different spheres of the periodontal health care abutting academics clinical and research. To bolster his progression from a novice to a competent in the field of periodontics and further harness the knowledge gained to serve mankind

MISSION: To propel the department of periodontics into the centre of competence for mastering all the facets of periodontics which will bring forth periodontists who can be thorough bred in delivering periodontal health care, teaching research with unified and ethical perspective in quest of periodontal health care for everyone.

FACILITIES

  • Fully fuctioning, well equiped with 34 dental chairs and 9 units in postgraduate clinic.
  • Minor ot, attached to a sterilization room.
  • Vip clinic with advanced equipment like implant kits, lasers and Electrocautery units.

ACTIVITIES

  • Students will be trained to perform scaling on models as well as patient from III year BDS.
  • Assessement of patients casts to improve practical knowledge to the students and help in dignosis and treatment planning.
  • During internship and final year students will be trained to assist minor surgical procedures Like periodontal flap surgery.
  • Clinically both regenerative (grafting) and peridontal esthetic procedures are performed routinely in the department.
