INTRODUCTION

Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics is concerned with the smile designing by correction of irregular teeth and jaws thereby improving the facial esthetics. Our department aims to provide an excellent academic teaching program to the undergraduates with all the advanced teaching methods at a peaceful and stress free environment and deliver uncompromised treatment services to all the patients with well equipped modern dental infrastructure and surplus faculty

VISION

The vision of the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is to impart high quality education and dispense high end treatment in the specialty of Orthodontics in an ethical manner with Interdisciplinary Team Approach. The department envisions incorporating a well-equipped Digital Work Station and practice In House aligner therapy.

MISSION

  • The mission of the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is to make a universal impact by leading care providers from the “Experienced based” art of Orthodontics to the research tested knowledge based, necessary to achieve quality treatment for individual patients. 
  • To develop and foster a community of global leaders dedicated to improving human health by integrating orthodontia and medicine at the forefront of education, research and patient care, especially in the field of TM Disorders and aesthetic orthodontics.

HIGHLIGHTS

 UNDERGRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMME

Highlights of the undergraduate training programme are:

  •  Faculty are allotted for Theory/Practical classes and multimedia Presentations are used extensively for theory This helps in better understanding of the concepts and at the same time makes learning an enjoyable experience.
  •  There is a One-to-one interaction and discussions with the students during Practical classes and clinical postings.
  • Practical demonstrations are given for various techniques and procedures like wire bending, acrylization etc.
  • The department library has good number of Orthodontic textbooks prescribed by the DCI for ready reference.

POSTGRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMME

Postgraduate (PG) training program in orthodontics typically includes several key highlights:

1. Comprehensive Curriculum: In-depth coursework covering growth and development, biomechanics, materials science, and clinical orthodontics.

OBJECTIVES

  • To lay foundation of basic knowledge and to enable students to Diagnose various Orthodontic problems at an undergraduate level.
  • To have a thorough understanding of the Etiology, Patho-physiology and subsequently accurate Diagnosis and Treatment planning of various Orthodontic problems.
  • To give adequate priorities to Infection Control and safe disposal of hospital waste so as to prevent cross infections

Department profile

  • Established in 2015, the department offers an undergraduate BDS program and three-year post-graduate MDS program which was started in 2019. The department is spread across a vast area of 3500 sq. ft. which encompasses separate well equipped undergraduate and post graduate clinics, library, seminar hall, well equipped labs, sterilization room and state of the art departmental equipment is the pride of the college. In addition, the department is also equipped with cabins for clinical photography and digital cephalometry.
